Construction is progressing on a new housing development along New Road in Donabate, Co. Dublin. The project, developed and designed by Fingal County Council, will deliver 175 housing units as part of an ongoing effort to provide high-quality, sustainable housing within the area.
This project was proposed under Section 179A of the Planning and Development Act in June 2024. Under this process, qualifying projects can proceed without going through the standard planning application route, provided they meet strict criteria. These include full compliance with the local Development Plan, being located on zoned and serviced land, among others.
3D Design Bureau supported this project by producing verified view montages, aerial montages, and architectural CGIs to accurately visualise the design and layout of the proposed development. Additionally, we also supplied Fingal Co. Council with a comprehensive Daylight and Sunlight Assessment report. These materials were crucial in assisting our client and the design team to evaluate the project during the planning process, ensuring the scheme aligned with local planning objectives.
The scheme covers approximately 4.72 hectares and will include 123 houses and 52 apartments, alongside a single-storey crèche with a dedicated outdoor play area and storage facilities.
The houses, ranging from two- to four-bedroom units, will be part one-storey, part two-storey, and two-storey in height, while the apartments will be contained within a block varying from one to four storeys. The scheme will also provide landscaped open spaces, communal amenity areas, private gardens, balconies, and terraces designed to promote community living and outdoor activity.
Additional provisions include car parking spaces, set-down bays, motorcycle and bicycle parking spaces
Once complete, this project will deliver much-needed housing, community amenities, and childcare facilities, thereby contributing to the continued development of Donabate.

Kildare County Council has granted planning permission for a new large-scale residential development (LRD) in Kilcock, Co. Kildare. The approved scheme, located at Branganstown East, will deliver over 130 new homes as part of a planned, multi-phase neighbourhood.

The development, initially proposed for 352 units, has been revised to deliver 223 new homes, with part of the site omitted to protect a locally significant tree and to safeguard space for future active recreation.
An Coimisiún Pleanála has granted planning permission with revised conditions for a new residential development on Ballyogan Road, Dublin 18, following an appeal. The approved scheme will replace existing structures on site with two apartment blocks providing a total of 49 units.
