Mariott Hotels are set to launch the new Moxy Hotel in Springfield, Manchester in Q4 of 2021. The building’s unique design will add to the architectural variety within the area.
The 145- bedroom hotel is designed by architect and interior designer, ICA. Ideally located in the city centre, hotel guests will have easy access to the Manchester’s popular bars and restaurants. ICA architect, Nicholas Robert, hopes that it will “become a vibrant part of Springfield’s future.”
The design of the hotel will reflect the extensive history of the area in the soda water, hat, silk and chemical industries. The Invicta House, built in the 18th century, was home to many businesses in these industries. The decorative façade that remains will be set in front of the Moxy hotel as part of the historical tribute. To add to this, the exterior cladding will mimic the Jacquard Loom punch cards to reflect Springfield’s role in the textile industry. The exposed ceilings inside will represent the area’s involvement in the industrial revolution.
