We are happy to share that Goatstown Road Student Accommodation has been chosen by the public as the winner of our first Best of the Quarter initiative, securing 59% of the vote. It was a close race in the early stages, but Goatstown Road’s project gradually pulled ahead to take the top spot.
Located on the site of the former Vector Motors premises in Dublin 14, this is a student accommodation scheme designed by Reddy Architecture and Urbanism. The development will deliver 220 bed spaces, together with a strong mix of internal and external amenity areas, including a central courtyard, roof terraces, lounge and study spaces, kitchen and tearoom facilities, and laundry areas.
The scheme was approved by An Coimisiún Pleanála following an appeal, which upheld Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s decision to grant planning permission for the development.
The wider project team includes Orchid Residential Limited as the developers, Reddy Architecture and Urbanism as the architects, John Spain Associates as the planning consultants, and Ronan MacDiarmada & Associates as the landscape consultants, among others. Congratulations to all of the teams involved in bringing this project forward.
We had the pleasure of working with this excellent team across multiple planning phases, producing a daylight and sunlight assessment report and a range of 3D planning visuals to support the application.
The Best of the Quarter initiative is all about celebrating not only our own work, but also the talented teams we are proud to collaborate with across the industry. Voting was open to the public and completely anonymous.
Congratulations once again to the entire Goatstown Road Student Accommodation team, and to all of the other shortlisted projects that took part in this first edition. We are already looking forward to seeing which projects will be shortlisted in Q2!

What changes with the Home Performance Index (HPI) v3.1 update?
The Home Performance Index (HPI), developed by the Irish Green Building Council, is a certification system that measures the quality and sustainability of new homes across different categories. This not only guides property developers’ sustainability strategies but also serves as a powerful tool for bringing homes to market.
