Blanchardstown Centre
Blanchardstown Centre is a two-storey shopping mall located in north Dublin, comprising more than 180 retail units, restaurants, and a multiplex cinema. Originally completed in 1996, it has grown to become one of the largest shopping centres in the city.
More than two decades after its opening, plans were submitted to Fingal County Council proposing a series of internal and external amendments to the centre. These changes form part of a wider strategic masterplan aimed at enhancing the facilities and strengthening the centre’s role within the Blanchardstown community.
3D Design Bureau was appointed to support the planning application by producing a suite of planning visuals, including architectural CGIs, aerial montages, and verified view montages. These materials helped communicate the proposed upgrades clearly to the local authority and contributed to the scheme ultimately receiving planning permission.
Verified view montages were particularly important for this project, as they allowed the planning authority to accurately assess how the proposed amendments would appear within the existing urban context. Produced following our robust methodology, including site surveying, baseline photography, and camera matching, these visuals provide a precise and verifiable representation of the proposed development.
Alongside the planning visuals, a number of architectural CGIs were also produced with potential future marketing use in mind, allowing the client to present the updated centre once planning permission had been secured.
The scheme has since progressed through several further amendments, including updates in 2022 and most recently in 2025. On both occasions, we were re-engaged to update selected verified view montages and aerial views to reflect design refinements and changes to the elevations.
Working from new drawings and material references, our modelling team revised the original 3D model of the site and updated the surrounding landscaping visible in the selected viewpoints. From there, our visualisation and post-production teams treated the updates with the same level of care as a new project, as the amendments introduced several notable changes to the design.
As with the original planning submission, these updated visuals are expected to play an important role in supporting the latest amendments to the Blanchardstown Centre masterplan
