Smyth’s Bridge House
Located in Donabate, this approved phase of the Corballis East Masterplan will deliver over 50 residential units alongside commercial and community spaces. A key aspect of the permission is the refurbishment and reuse of Smyth’s Bridge House, a protected structure, including restoration works to the historic public house and restaurant, as well as the conversion of the former Coach House and Barn into a café.
The scheme forms part of the wider multi-phase Corballis East Masterplan, which is set to deliver approximately 1,000 homes.
Having worked across multiple phases of Corballis East, 3D Design Bureau was approached by Cairn to support the planning application of this phase with architectural CGIs. This part of the site had previously featured in one of the verified view montages produced for an earlier phase, so our existing knowledge of the overall masterplan and site context helped us approach this new stage efficiently.
Working from architectural and landscape drawings, our team remodelled this section of the site using the more detailed information now available. We also collaborated closely with the client to agree on the best viewpoints for the visuals, ensuring the scheme was represented accurately within a tight planning timeline.
As the project progressed, the scope expanded to include additional architectural CGIs, aerial montages, and an architectural animation fly-through showcasing the proposed amendments, with particular focus on the main courtyard area.
Following drone photography of the site, our team integrated the 3D model into the baseline aerial imagery, applying realistic textures, lighting, and contextual elements to closely represent the intended as-built appearance of the development.
The architectural animation was created to help the authority, stakeholders, and the wider public understand how the proposed scheme will look, translating the still visuals into a more dynamic and engaging format.
