Wicklow County Council has granted planning permission with conditions for a new residential development at Broomhall, Rathnew, Co. Wicklow. The approved scheme will provide 87 homes in a mix of houses and duplexes/maisonettes, together with a crèche, sports pitch and supporting site infrastructure.
3D Design Bureau supported the project team by producing aerial visuals, architectural CGIs and verified view montages, both for the original planning submission and for a later further information response.
The aerial montages were particularly useful in illustrating how the proposed sports pitch responds to the site’s proposed levels and topography. The architectural CGIs were produced from key streetscape viewpoints, which helped highlight the relationship between the homes and open spaces facilities.
Ultimately, these solutions helped communicate the proposal clearly as the design evolved through planning, giving the local authority a strong understanding of how the scheme would sit within its surroundings.
The approved plans provide for 20 one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom, 50 three-bedroom and 5 four-bedroom homes, in a development ranging from two to three storeys.
Alongside the residential element, the scheme will also include a 162 sq m crèche, a sports pitch with a 70 sq m clubhouse, and many areas of public open space distributed throughout the site, incorporating landscaped green areas, pedestrian links and amenity spaces intended for residents.
The approved plans also provide for car parking spaces, with ducting required to facilitate future electric vehicle charging at house parking spaces.
