Galway will be welcoming almost 400 new student beds with the introduction of Westwood Student Accommodation located on the site of the former Westwood Hotel in Dangan, Galway City. The student scheme is situated within a 10-minute walk of NUI Galway.
The new facility features 394 student beds which is spread over 5 separate blocks varying in height from 3 to 5 storeys. The accommodation includes 23 four-bed apartments, 1 five-bed apartment, 1 six-bed apartments, 13 seven-bed units and 25 eight-bed units
Prospective students will have access to on-site amenities such as a café, social spaces, gaming zones, study areas, outdoor seating and three courtyard garden areas. A total of 24 car spaces and 140 bicycle storage are available to tenants.
The complex will be used as visitor or tourist accommodation on a temporary basis outside of academic term times.
CGI consultants, 3D Design Bureau, liaised with the development team to construct a series of 3D planning and 3D marketing solutions. 3D Design Bureau produced verified view montages, architectural CGIs and interior CGIs which were submitted as part of the planning application to An Bord Pleanála. The visuals are now being used for marketing purposes with national media covering the project.
