Work begins on the construction of a 6-storey student accommodation complex on the site of the former St. Peter’s Bakery on Parnell Street.
Construction begins on the former Gallaher cigarette factory site on Airton Road, Tallaght where over 500 apartments will be built.
Greenleaf Homes Limited received the green light from An Bord Pleanála back in June 2020 and it is great to see works finally starting on-site.
Approved under fast-track planning, the 502 apartments will be spread across 6 housing blocks, spanning in height from 6 to 8 storeys. Construction has initially begun on Block D of the scheme and, once complete, these blocks will contain a mix of 1, 2 and 3-bed homes with associated private balconies or terraces with 50 of the units to be allocated for social housing.
In addition to the residential units, the scheme will include 3 retail units, a creche, public and communal open spaces that include children’s play areas. A total of 202 car spaces and 584 bicycle storage spaces are also outlined in the plans.
The 2.79 hectare site is located just 1.4km from The Square Tallaght shopping centre, and was home to the former Gallaher cigarette factory, which has been demolished to make way for the new granted scheme.
The masterplan for the site envisages the construction of 11 separate residential blocks across a 3.8-hectare site.
CGI consultants, 3D Design Bureau, liaised with the development team to construct a series of 3D planning and 3D marketing solutions. 3D Design Bureau produced verified view montages, architectural CGIs, and presentation photomontages which were submitted as part of the planning application to An Bord Pleanála. The visuals are now being used for marketing purposes with national media covering the project.
