Plans for this development date back to 2007 when former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern endorsed the idea of having a national science exhibit similar to the London Science Museum. The 2008 financial crisis stalled plans, but the development eventually received planning approval in 2016 and now tender applications are being sought for its construction.
Note: 3D Design Bureau are NOT acting sales agents on the sale of any property within this housing development.
Irish builders, Durkan, have begun the construction of the proposed modern apartment complex ‘Brickfield Square’. The new homes will be located on the site of the former Eason’s Warehouse on Brickfield Drive, Crumlin, Dublin 12.
The approved scheme involves the demolition of the existing Brickfield House building on Brickfield Drive. There will be a total of 282 apartments contained within four blocks ranging between four to ten storeys in height. The residential units will be constructed as one and two-bedroom apartments and expected to be completed by June 2026.
Brickfield Square will also offer several amenity spaces to be located mainly in Block C. This Block will accommodate a childcare facility, a café unit, a public gym, and a yoga/multipurpose room. Residents will also have access to a resident’s lounge, a meeting room, and a public working hub located in the same block.
Large sections of the 1.23 hectare site will be allocated for public and open spaces. These spaces will include play areas, courtyards, outdoor seating, and terraced planting. Furthermore, a total of 119 car parking spaces and 558 cycle spaces will be available as well as new pedestrian and vehicular access points.
An Bord Pleanála granted the planning permission for this scheme, and according to inspector Colm McLoughlin, the proposed development “would provide a quality addition to the streetscape that would not unduly dominate or undermine the wider character of the area and the scale of the proposal can be absorbed as a local neighbourhood”.
CGI consultants, 3D Design Bureau, liaised with the development team to provide both 3D planning and 3D marketing solutions. This included verified view montages, architectural CGIs, and a BRE Daylight & Sunlight Assessment which were submitted as part of the planning application to An Bord Pleanála. The 3D visualisations are now being used for marketing purposes with national media covering the project.
