Exeter Ireland Property have received the green light from An Bord Pleanála for the construction of 920 student bed-spaces in 868 bedrooms at Cúirt Na Coiribe student accommodation in Terryland, Galway.
The approved scheme is an expansion of the existing student complex that provides 515 bed-spaces and a range of residential amenities.
Approved under fast-track planning, the scheme will be contained within a single building with 9 linked blocks ranging in height from 2 to 6 storeys.
The expansion will also include new residential amenities such as a gym, a games room, a library/study spaces, multi-functional spaces, a café/restaurant, and a student lounge.
The project involves the demolition of the existing two storey building at the entrance to the site as well as removing the top fifth floor of the main building.
The plans outline a total of 59 car parking spaces, 43 basement and 16 surface spaces, as well as 656 bicycle spaces and 5 motorcycle spaces.
Cúirt Na Coiribe is situated 1.3km from Eyre Square, and 1km from the NUI Galway campus, and is close to existing and planned bus routes.
CGI consultants, 3D Design Bureau, liaised with the development team to provide both 3D planning and 3D marketing solutions. 3D Design Bureau produced verified view montages, presentation photomontages and a BRE daylight & sunlight assessment which were submitted as part of the planning application to An Bord Pleanála. The visuals are now being used for marketing purposes with national media covering the project.
