Construction is progressing on Glenveagh Homes’ large-scale residential development (LRD) in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. The scheme, located in the townland of Rathgowan, received planning permission from An Coimisiún Pleanála in May 2024 (with revised conditions) and is now delivering 181 new housing units.

An Coimisiún Pleanála has granted planning permission, following an appeal, for a major new residential and mixed-use scheme in Athlumney, Navan, Co. Meath. The approved development will deliver 322 homes, alongside extensive community amenities, a neighbourhood centre, and a new public park.

South Dublin County Council has lodged a Part 10 planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for a major residential development across three sites within the Clonburris Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). The proposed scheme will deliver 1,252 new homes in a mix of houses, duplexes, triplexes, and apartments, alongside childcare, community, and retail facilities.

Dublin City Council has granted planning permission for a new purpose-built student accommodation complex at 96–99 Amiens Street, Dublin 1. The approved scheme will deliver 246 bedspaces in a modern, high-density building ranging from six to nine storeys over a lower ground floor.

The Land Development Agency (LDA) is set to submit a planning application for a new 285-unit residential scheme at The Gasworks on Dock Road, Limerick. The project will be developed on land acquired from Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) and aims to deliver much-needed cost rental and social housing in the city.

An Coimisiún Pleanála has approved plans, following an appeal, for the redevelopment and extension of existing buildings at 19–20 Leeson Street Lower, Dublin 2. The approved scheme, designed for the Institute of Education, will provide additional classrooms and ancillary facilities through a combination of refurbishment and new-build elements.

The final stage of the planning application process is not necessarily the swiftest or simplest. Different outcomes can unfold, depending on the local authority’s view of the proposed scheme and how it has been presented.

Following the pre-application process and possible public consultation period, the design team will gear up for the full planning submission.

Following the publication of the 3rd Edition of BRE Guidelines in June 2022, it is now a requirement to include trees within a daylight and sunlight assessment. Depending on the metrics being assessed for Impact Assessments or Scheme Performance, evergreen and deciduous trees need to be included in different states within the analytical 3D model.

For 3DDB, the Navigation Square Office project was a combination of creative flair and ability, careful planning with a seasoning of thinking outside the box! The final product needed to grab the attention and interest of potential tenants right away and to provide a clear overview of the impressive floor area of this office scheme.
