Planning permission is being sought for an estimated €33 million Strategic Housing Development at the former Presentation College Bray Head House on Putland Road, Bray. Developers, Denver Valley Developments Limited have submitted plans to build 179 apartments on this site.
To make way for the new apartment buildings, the protected Bray Head House structure will be reconfigured internally from the original school into new apartments. The Presentation College was originally opened back in 1921 by the Archbishop of Dublin Dr. Byrne but has since been used by Pres and Bray Adult Education Centre.
Whilst the core original structure of Bray Head House will be refurbished, the associated outbuildings will be demolished including non-originals sheds and the 1950s 2 to 3 storey secondary school extension.
In addition to the reconfigured Bray Head House, three more apartment buildings (Blocks A to C) will be constructed to accommodate the bulk of the apartments included in the scheme. These will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes. All apartment buildings will be constructed around a central landscaped podium that will contain basement level parking and amenity space underneath. Surface level car and bicycle parking will also be available within the scheme.
As well as residential apartments, plans for the proposed development also include the construction of a creche on the ground floor of Apartment Block A.
CGI consultants, 3D Design Bureau, liaised with the development team to provide 3D planning solutions. 3D Design Bureau produced verified view montages and architectural CGIs which were submitted as part of the planning application to Wicklow County Council.
