Plans have been submitted to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for a proposed apartment development, ‘Woodlands Park,’ aimed at supporting elderly living in Blackrock. This is the second of two accommodations proposed by Vico Later Living, Ireland’s first dedicated Later Living developer and operator. Vico is a joint venture between Hibernia Senior Living and Turkington Rock, the luxury property developer.
This build-to-rent scheme will involve the demolition of the existing two-story dwelling and ancillary garage and the construction of a single five-storey apartment block. There will be 39 residential units included in the block comprising 35 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom apartments.
The aim with this development is to create a supportive apartment scheme of an exceptional standard that fosters community among retired citizens and allows them to continue to live a fulfilling life. The amenities outlined in plans reflect an exceptionally high standard as they include two rooftop hot tubs, a hairdressing room, wellness facilities, and a Trackman golf simulator room to name a few. Car, bicycle, and mobility parking will also be available on site.
Planning Consultant Kevin Hughes of HPDC, is hopeful that the construction of an apartment scheme that promotes community living among the elderly will “fundamentally change the way retirement housing is understood and delivered.”
Close to N11 and N31 junction and just a twenty-minute walk from Blackrock and Stillorgan, this development is located in a prime location for those wishing to visit residents at Woodlands Park and will offer a tranquil surrounding environment.
