Construction works have commenced in Hawkins Wood, one of Cairn Homes’ latest mixed-use developments. Located by the sea in Greystones County Wicklow, the scheme will provide a collection of high-quality two, three and four-bedroom family homes in a very desirable location.
Work will commence this week on a new Office Development coming to Leeson Lane, Dublin 2. The development is funded by The Office of Public Works and will incorporate the historic Spruce House currently on site.
The development involves the construction of a 7-storey over basement office building and the refurbishment and redevelopment of the former dispensary building, Spruce House. The two structures will link at the rear of Spruce House to complete the Office Development which will operate as a flexible, multi-occupancy government headquarters.
In addition to the restoration of Spruce House, the historic Leeson Place Laneway will also be reinstated to maintain the built heritage of the area whilst introducing a modern office space. The additional outbuildings on site such as a bicycle shed, and a generator room will alternatively be demolished and replaced with a new ESB substation, customer switch room and store.
Developers have carefully designed this building to minimise the energy consumption and the environmental impact which has led to this development becoming a model for energy efficiency. The office is designed in compliance with European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and will also be nZEB compliant (nearly Zero Energy buildings).
The use of predominantly renewable energy sources, heat pump technology and the application of OPW’s Green Procurement Policy will help reduce the environmental impact of the project as a whole.
The overall project will act as a flagship office development for the OPW and will provide a new and modern office building that is both energy efficient and sensitive to the existing heritage of the site.
Once planning was granted, CGI consultants, 3D Design Bureau, were approached by the development team to provide 3D marketing solutions to help promote the scheme. 3D Design Bureau produced the below photorealistic Presentation Photomontage for this development.
